Color of Change

The nation’s largest online racial justice organization, Color of Change is fueled by over one million members and is on the cutting edge of new strategies that are helping to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America.

On the electoral side, Color of Change is committed to electing prosecutors who understand that reforming our criminal justice system is the only way to make it just. We have designed experiments, using direct mail, to test various messages and designs to help them and other progressives working on criminal justice issues determine what messages motivate voters to engage in these down ballot races to elect a new generation of prosecutors to work in our courts.

Our research helped contribute to Kim Foxx’s 2016 win over the incumbent Democratic State’s Attorney, Anita Alvarez in Cook County, Illinois.  Anita Alvarez had a history of ignoring Chicago’s African-American community—a history that was crystalized when she refused to hold police officers accountable for the murder of unarmed teenager Laquan McDonald.  We are also proud to have helped Color of Change elect responsible prosecutors in Harris County, Texas.
