Irene Shin

First-time candidate Irene Shin challenged an incumbent Democrat in Virginia’s 86th House of Delegates district.

Our mail worked to communicate that Irene’s leadership would be more accountable, transparent, and reflective of the community’s shared values than that which was currently being offered to the Democrats in this district.

We engaged with key target audiences in the mailbox, showing how Irene’s lived experience and the obstacles she’s faced matched those of many voters in the district. The daughter of Korean immigrants, Irene benefited from a quality public education, worked her way through college, and saw family grapple with the shortcomings of the American health care system.

As a current nonprofit leader in civic engagement, we made the case that she knew how to make state government more accountable, transparent, and representative of working families, not big corporations.

After her primary win, we helped steer the campaign to victory in the general election, showing how Irene would fight for Democratic values and the people of the 86th district while her opponent was beholden to far-right extremists.
